New Government Sponsored DUI Prevention App

Maryland Releases Government Backed DUI App

The Baltimore Sun  and USA Today report that the State Highway Safety Administration premiered an app aimed at preventing drivers who have had too much to drink from driving. The app known as ENDDUI allows drivers to input information about amount of alcohol consumed, weight and other factors to determine if they have crossed the legal limit of .08.

In addition, the app has games aimed to determining a drivers ability to react. It is an interesting approach aimed at the young drivers who are most likely to be arrested for a DUI offense. Whether this app gets adopted by the prospective audience is still an open question. Nonetheless, the State has to be commended for thinking outside the box and attacking a problem creatively.  Maryland joins several others states including New York, New Mexico, Colorado and California who also have a DUI prevention app.
